At Smile Dentistry Gubei, we believe a great smile should look completely natural — not artificial, not uniform, and definitely not the "influencer white" factory look. That’s why we’ve brought in a team of technicians holding dual certification from CDL (California Dental Laboratory) in Monrovia, Los Angeles — one of the few labs in California with a Hollywood-level reputation for high-end aesthetic ceramic work.
For expats and international patients in Shanghai who want veneer or crown results that match what they’d expect back home, this is a significant step forward.
What Is CDL?
CDL (California Dental Laboratory) is based in Monrovia, Los Angeles, and operates both a prosthetics manufacturing facility and a dental technician training program under one roof. With a long track record of serving Hollywood celebrities and high-end aesthetic restoration cases, CDL’s layered ceramic techniques are considered a global benchmark in dental craftsmanship.
What Does This Mean for You as a Patient?
In simple terms: your veneers, crowns, or inlays are crafted by hand to match your natural tooth color, texture, and light reflection — not produced from a generic mold.
The CDL-certified technicians at our Gubei clinic specialize in:
- Layered ceramic characterization — each restoration is built up layer by layer (dentin, enamel, incisal translucency) to replicate the natural depth of a real tooth
- Environmental shade matching — color is verified under natural daylight, indoor lighting, and flash to ensure your smile looks natural in every setting
- Biomimetic surface texture — the micro-texture and gloss of your restoration is matched to your natural teeth, so no one can tell the difference
One-on-One Technician Service
For every aesthetic case at Smile Dentistry Gubei — whether veneers, inlays, or full crowns — a CDL-certified technician is personally assigned to your case and involved at every key stage:
- Tooth preparation — guiding the approach to preserve as much healthy tooth structure as possible
- DSD smile design — working with your dentist to ensure the digital design is achievable in ceramic before any preparation begins
- Final ceramic layering and sintering — hand-finished to U.S. dental lab standards, ensuring translucency, color depth, and marginal fit blend seamlessly with your natural teeth
Who Is This For?
This service is particularly well-suited for:
- Expats in Shanghai seeking cosmetic dentistry that meets the standards of their home country
- Dental tourists visiting Shanghai who want to complete high-quality aesthetic work during their stay
- Patients who want natural results and are willing to invest in genuine craftsmanship over mass-produced restorations
